It's a dreamy, emotional track that basically goes Amaj, Bmaj, G#min, Amaj all the way through - it starts just using triads then there's a short breakdown bit where the music kind of centres around A major. After this, I'm playing add9 chords on the Amaj to Bmaj part of the progression.
For improvising, I stick to three-note-per-string shapes of A Lydian, trying to think about incorporating notes from the chords - playing the third notes from the chord can be cool, and so can playing those 9th notes in your lead.
“Sauropoda” defies description; one minute it’s funneling the sound of Afrobeat through synths, the next it’s floating off into space. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 28, 2019
